Kelley McKinnon, BA, LLB, Senior Fellow 2021 and Fellow 2020, Harvard University (Advanced Leadership Initiative), over a 30+ year career was an executive at BMO Financial Group with global regulatory and compliance roles, former Senior Deputy Commissioner at the Canadian Competition Bureau overseeing the Mergers branch, former Chief Litigation Counsel and Deputy Director at the Ontario Securities Commission as well as a leading litigation counsel and partner at 2 major Canadian law firms, and conflict resolution and governance advisor to executives, boards and special committees. Repeatedly recognized as "Best Lawyer" in Canada in securities and capital markets matters and sought out for complex, multi-party dispute resolution as well as the conduct of special investigations.
With private and public sector experience, Kelley attended Harvard with a deep interest in public policy and innovation for social impact. As a Harvard Senior Fellow, Kelley focused on enhancing ESG and sustainability initiatives and metrics in a tri-partner (corporate, government and civil society) context along with studies in disinformation/polarization and rural economic and social rejuvenation. Kelley was adjunct faculty and special lecturer at Osgoode Law School and Queen’s Faculty of Law, respectively, for many years teaching Advocacy and Trial Practice Skills. She served a number of terms on the Queen’s University Board of Trustees, including most recently as ViceChair of the board and Chair of the Governance and Nominating Committee. She is currently Chair of the Dean’s Advisory Council for the Faculty of Law at Queen’s and served 3 terms on Queen’s University Council. She is a member of the Neuchatel Junior College Canadian Advisory Committee, supporting international experiential education for Canadian youth. She recently joined the Advisory Board of Lumenix relating to their innovative AI monitoring technology for use in hospitals.
