Lori MacMullen joins the Alliance with more than 20 years’ experience in Canada’s digital research infrastructure (DRI) ecosystem. She previously served as the founding Executive Director of CUCCIO, where she led discussions with the community about the need for a new approach to delivering and funding DRI in Canada. This included hosting three DRI Summits (2012, 2014, 2017), creating and supporting the work of the Leadership Council for DRI from 2012 to 2018, and supporting the development of several position papers to advise the Government of Canada.
Lori served as Chair of the Alliance’s Applicant Board (2019-20), which established the Alliance as a national non-profit organization to coordinate funding and the strategic direction for national DRI activities related to Advanced Research Computing (ARC), Data Management (DM) and Research Software (RS). She is also the former Chief Information Officer (CIO) of both the University of New Brunswick and the Government of New Brunswick.
In November 2023, Lori returned to the Alliance as a senior advisor to the Office of the CEO, with a focus on the mandate renewal and strategic projects. As Interim VP, Operations & Security, Lori will ensure the ongoing delivery, support and access to our national DRI services, including enhanced security efforts and continuous improvement processes; oversight and support for the national compute infrastructure refresh enabled by recent federal investments; and continued engagement with community stakeholders, service partners and users to expand and enhance DRI services for researchers.
