This is a full-time, remote contract position through to March 31, 2027.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Digital Research Alliance of Canada (“the Alliance”) collaborates with regional and institutional partners from across the DRI ecosystem to develop, coordinate, and support training services and programs in support of DRI and its use in Canada.
The Alliance is seeking a dynamic bilingual training professional who has strong coordination, communication, and training skills and is eager to work on a pan-Canadian basis. The ideal candidate will bring prior experience in a training or learning and development role and demonstrated interest in supporting academic research, information technology, research software (RS), advanced research computing (ARC), or research data management (RDM). The Training Coordinator will report into the Operations and Security Portfolio and be responsible for coordinating and supporting DRI-related training and awareness programs and initiatives within the DRI eco-system. This individual is expected to work collaboratively with a wide variety of stakeholders. The ability to work with diplomacy, discretion, and tact is essential to the success of the role.
RESPONSIBILITIES
● Collaborate with various national groups, regional partners, and institutions to identify and support training needs related to RDM, ARC, RS, and Cybersecurity in Canada.
● Support the development, delivery, assessment, and continuous improvement of RDM, ARC, RS, and Cybersecurity training resources and opportunities.
● Provide coordination and logistical support across RDM, ARC, RS, and Cybersecurity to ensure the smooth delivery of training initiatives, including:
- Tracking, monitoring, and reporting on training activities
- Scheduling meetings and maintaining agendas
- Creating and maintaining calendars and workplans
- Following up on action items
- Managing external communications
- Hosting training-related events
- Overseeing technical components associated with virtual or remote training (e.g., creating and managing Zoom meetings, webinars, and any recorded outputs)
● Advise on and support the design and launch of new training programs and initiatives in collaboration by the Alliance’s regional and institutional partners.
● Contribute to the development of national training strategies and implementation plans for the Alliance.
● Maintain and update the Alliance’s National Training Discovery Portal (Explora) to ensure content is accurate and up to date.
REQUIREMENTS
● A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience in a DRI-related field such as computer science, engineering, computational sciences (e.g., physics, mathematics, chemistry, data analytics, digital humanities, genomics, data management, library, and information sciences, etc.).
● Minimum of three years’ experience supporting, developing, or delivering training or educational programs, preferably at a post-secondary or adult education level.
● Foundational understanding of Research Data Management (RDM), Advanced Research Computing (ARC), Research Software (RS), and Cybersecurity.
● Familiarity with educational technologies, such as learning/content management software, LibGuides, webinar platforms, and audio-visual content creation tools.
● Strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines effectively.
● Experience with curriculum design or educational program development.
● Knowledge of pedagogy and an understanding of diverse teaching styles to support different learning preferences.
● Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to convey complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
● Exceptional organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
● Demonstrated professionalism, including the ability to interact with stakeholders, colleagues, and external partners with courtesy, discretion, and tact.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The following qualifications will be considered assets in evaluating candidates. These should be explicitly described in the applicant’s cover letter:
● Professional experience in an academic institution, or equivalent relevant experience, is highly desirable.
● Bilingualism in French and English, with the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in both official languages.

The expected salary range for this position for candidates residing in Canada is between $72,140 CAD - $97,601 CAD. Placement within this range will be determined based on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, demonstrated performance, and overall alignment with the requirements of the role.
