OERs in RDM: UBC’s RDM Modules

The Digital Research Alliance of Canada (the Alliance) and the RDM National Training Expert Group are excited to invite you to join us for the upcoming presentation, "OERs in RDM: UBC’s RDM Modules." The webinar will take place on February 6, 2025, from 1:00pm to 2:00pm ET. Please register in advance.

The University of British Columbia (UBC) Library Research Commons Team has been offering an extensive selection of workshops since late 2019 via the open-source GitHub platform. Using the same pedagogical approach shared with The Carpentries, all workshops are free, computationally reproducible, self-paced, and open for community reuse and adoption with appropriate licensing. This presentation will focus on explaining the thinking and background of selecting GitHub as an instructional delivery platform, outline the variety of workshop offerings, focus on research data management content, and share the lessons learned about teaching a catalogue of almost fifty workshops (https://ubc-library-rc.github.io/all.html) within the open-source environment.

This webinar is the fourth in the "Open Educational Resources in RDM Webinar Series" that highlights several Research Data Management-focused Open Educational Resources (OERs) that have been developed in Canada. The series also explores diverse topics around OERs, such as how they can be created, used, re-mixed, translated into multiple languages, and licensed.

Presented by:

  • Eugene Barsky, Research Data Management Librarian, UBC Library
  • Jeremy Buhler, Data Librarian, UBC Library

This is an English presentation with live French interpretation.
